Family Golf Life The Mission:
Family Golf Life aims to create a world-class learning environment for the special needs community with love and respect of each participating individual. We will create an atmosphere of inclusion, dignity, and respect while enriching lives with golf as an outdoor recreation one person at a time.
FGL Learning Seminars and Clinics.
Family Golf Life will create opportunities for families to learning a new sport. It's not about the score. It's about learning something fun outside with the family. Through our golf coaching clinics and playing opportunities, the FGL staff will create a positive learning environment for the whole family.
Where we started. Teaching Clemson Life Students.
Clemson Life is a special college program that provides a positive college and learning environment for kids with intellectual disabilities. While teaching golf at Clemson University, I had the priviledge of having some of the Clemson Life students in my Leisure Studies Golf Classes. The Clemson Life students changed my approach to golf instruction to all players from the beginners to the advanced. Clemson Life students were eager to learn a new sport and enjoyed being outside on the golf course learning a new skill side by side with other students. I understand the game of golf can be intimidating especially for beginners. I saw most of the Clemson Life students developed new golf skills and found a sport to enjoy outside socially. Some of the Clemson Life students had golf as a recreational sport in their families but others did not. The golf classes became a one and done program with little to zero golf in their future sights. I saw a need to change this and vowed to teach not just the kids golf skills but the family as a whole to have a outside sporting activity that is challenging and fun. The goal of Family Golf Life is to create opportunities for golfers and families to be outside spending quality time together. The score is just a number.
Family Golf Life PGA Learning & Coaching Clinics
The focus of Family Golf Life will be to create opportunities for families to learning a new sport and activity. It's not about the score, it's about learning something fun outside with the family. Through our clinics and playing opportunities, the staff will create a positive learning environment for the whole family.
Where do we start? We start at the putting green and move back when skill levels are match the position. The focus is playing where the student is comfortable. Learning Programs will be schedule through the year to introduce the game to as many families as we can. Look into the upcoming events section for more details.
